The artificial pond is kept in society premises, and the mandal is encouraging residents to immerse their individual idols in this artificial pond to reduce pollution of the river. Soil from eco-friendly idols will be used in society garden, and flowers which will be donated to the idol by the devotees will be utilized to create fertilizer at the compost site of the complex.
Abhijeet Agalave, a member of the Mandal, said “We opted to embrace all the sustainable practices this year because we wanted to spread the message of sustainability. We have also shifted our decoration from thermocol to fiber and wood which is reusable. Along with these changes, we have also opted not to employ D.J and bursting of firecrackers during the immersion procession.”
He continued, “We are happy to have the support of the residents of our complex for this initiative. With the support of society members, we wish to spread the message of sustainable living.”
The Mandal is taking all feasible measures and wants to continue the legacy because they feel that to combat the climate change that we are now facing, we need the cooperation of all citizens.
